☆.•*´Experimenting with Oshare Kei`*•.☆

Hello everyone! So recently I started getting very nostalgic and reminisced back in the days that I first discovered Jrock. Its been quite a few years now that I've stopped keeping up to date with it because I just found it so hard. I then ended up getting into Kpop which is even more difficult to keep up with! As I watched their old music videos I realised I have never ever tried Oshare Kei which is a style I admire so much because it matches so well with the upbeat and lively style of the music. Back in my teen years I was heavily influenced by LM.C and Takeru of SuG, however I didn't really have the wardrobe to pull it off. My attempts back then were literally awful that I wouldn't even label it as Oshare kei.

Brighton Japanese Festival

On the holidays I visited Brighton for the Japanese festival hosted by Popi Atom - manager at Cyberdog Brighton. I completely forgot to write a blog post on it so...here it is!
I went with Lauren and we set off from London Victoria really early. We grabbed ourselves a McDonald's breakfast and headed off to Brighton!
Lauren on the train looking srs.
After two hours we arrived and got completely lost for an hour and ended up in Hove which was uhhh..Kind of my fault haha. We walked past the Taj-Mahal-looking-art-gallery-type-building along the way which is just before we go so horribly lost. I think the festival was literally just on the next road from this building...oops hehe. Well I know for next time and we got to the festival in the end!

When we reached the festival I met up with my old school friend Alex who I haven't seen in such a long time! It was great meeting up, he was one of my close friends in year 10/11 and he's so freaking tall (he's 6ft5"). I was the shortest and he was the tallest in our year at school, we looked really odd walking around together. I also met up with my friend Richard that I met in the summer of 2012 at the ScReW gig :)!
It was quite a small festival which I thought it would be as I've been to Brighton festival back when I was 16/17 and that was with Alex as well. I got myself some vegetarian sushi as I don't eat seafood because I was starved by the time we arrived and also had a long chat with Roxie Sweetheart as she had hired a stall for the event :D.
This is the ring I bought from Roxie Sweetheart because I absolutely adore Korillakuma :3 -please excuse my randomly wrinkley and yellow looking hand haha I get dry skin sometimes :c. I also finally got to wear my deco nails I bought from Tofu cute at MCM expo :D. They were a bitch to get off though.
Anyway we heard there was going to be a fashion show and Popi had introduced herself to us and convinced us (well convinced me more than Lauren as she was already up for doing it haha) to enter the fashion show. I got all dressed up so I thought why not? Although I wanted to walk up there with Lauren rather than alone haha.

So we waited and derped around a little bit in the Maids of England tent which is a maid Café in London that I still have yet to visit! >  >

Yeah we derped hard.
I'm just going to leave this image here....
We found it on all the tables in the café hahaha and I may or may not have taken it home with me...

When the shows started first up was Maids of England. Two maids did an Otaku dance...the song I don't know or remember and the Butler did a cover of Taeyang's - Wedding dress

Next was the Cyberdog fashion show which was sponsored by Roxie Sweetheart and Kiss Me Kill Me.
After that ended, we were up!! I was really nervous for some reason, even though the stage was very small and there wasn't a large audience I just have this fear that I'll fall off and break my neck haha.
There's me and Lauren in the left hand corner next to Roxie  where we had to introduce our names and the style we were wearing :)
Then we had to individually go down the cat walk and have photo's taken at the end, I walked with Lauren because I'm a wuss haha. Here are some photo's that Alex and Richard took :)

Us with Amélie and Popi Atom after the fashion show
A few minutes after the show was finished Popi approached me and said I won the fashion show which I was really surprised about. I won £40 worth of Cyberdog gift vouchers, Roxie sweetheart earrings, bracelet, ring and a Kiss me Kill me belt. Since I walked up with Lauren I halved the prize with her as we agreed before they announced who won :).
It was a great day but really exhausting as well.
Bye Bye

Taobao & Sweet soul shop Review

Hola!
I haven't made a post for a while because I've been really busy lazy with uni and tings. But now I am back home for Easter and had a parcel waiting for me from Taobao :D
For those who don't know, Taobao is basically like a Chinese ebay with millions of stores but sells literally anything your perverted little imaginations can think of. But I mainly look for Japanese brands/replica's which are sold at a really cheap price! It really has tonnes of amazing products, however, apart from the website being all in Chinese (thanks Google chrome translator!), to order anything from Taobao you have to live in China.
Hm.
This is where a handy dandy shipping service comes in.
Having never used Taobao in my life or a shipping service I had to ensure the company I chose were trustworthy. So I chose sweetsoulshop who I have been following on tumblr for a long while and who also have a Facebook page. When I found their store it was a long while ago when they only sold cosmetics but as the store grew bigger sweet soul shop added a Taobao shipping service.

My favourite Japanese brand is Candy Stripper, I love its blend of cute and creepy so here is what I ordered:

Originally I wanted the black stripes on the jacket however it was sold out...so red will do (:.
Also, the jacket is an original Candy Stripper piece, the t shirt is a replica.

Jacket - (Chinese Yuan) ¥170 = £17.95
T shirt -
¥85 = £8.97

The prices are so amazing, in comparison to the Japanese prices:
(Roughly)

(Japanese Yen) ¥20,790 = £145
¥13,440 = £93
I love you Japan but you are the most expensive country, I swear.

Anywhoooooo, I ordered these items on 24th January which is the date I received my Paypal invoice.
I was in contact with Jasmina Rosa from sweet soul shop who I have to say is excellent at communication with customers. She was fast at replying (the girl's who run Sweetsoulshop are from Australia so despite the time difference I always got an email very quickly) letting me know that Taobao services are usually longer since they are communicating with two different Chinese sellers who may not reply at the same time or have the items ready.
My items were shipped on 08/3/2013 which is quite a long wait, however, I do not blame sweetsoulshop for the time it took as they were not in possession of the clothes and had to wait until the parcel was received to Australia to then ship it to the UK. I was emailed the tracking number as well.

The parcel arrived on 14th March :3

The badge was a gift from my Korean penpal, Hyun ^3^. It says Choi Seung-hyun 최승현 (T.O.P's real name)

The quality of the jacket is excellent which is what I expected of brand, the t shirt however, is decent just a little baggy. I wanted to wear this with high waisted shorts but the material gathers since its quite wide on me

Please excuse the lack of ironing :P I wanted to put it on straight away.
Here is what the jacket looked like, the fit was perfect. The translation isn't clear but I think this comes in one size.

Bare Mirror pics 2k13
I had to really edit this photo because I looked like such a derp in this outfit. Can't nobody stop the derp!
The skirt is also by candy stripper from vivi-clothes.com (:.

These two pieces are supposed to go together as it is modeled on the website, however, because the shirt lacks any shape all the material bunches up at the back.
I like the design but it is uncomfortable to wear with high- waisted things which is basically all I wanted to wear it with :c
I'm sure I will find something in my wardrobe haha. Anyway, I also received a "little" gift with these items. It looked like a tiny bit of cloth with a drawstring at the top. As I pulled it out the parcel I thought it was a little blue bag, as I opened it I notice it had a huge hole in the bottom.
Wtf is this!?

It was so tiny I honestly thought it was a make-up-type-drawstring bag but on closer inspection I figured it was a bit of clothing...for the thigh perhaps? Because that's literally the only part of my body it would fit on.
So perhaps its a boob tube, but as I measured it to my chest it hardly covered anything. Yet I squeezed it on, my bra was way too padded (push up bra's ftw!!) so I changed into something a bit more flat...okay really flat and I got it on okay. It still hurt my boobs which is saying something because I have hardly anything. So here is the tiny bag/boob tube thing!

It was super difficult to get off as well D;
I love these items and will be ordering from taobao again soon, but hopefully I can find something that doesn't take a month and a half to be shipped.
